Bay Area Booksellers! We want to tell your story!
Due to be published in Fall 2027 by Arcadia Publishing, Bay Area Bookselling aims to document and celebrate the rich history of bookselling in the Bay Area. We'd love to feature your store! The book will be broken up into three sections:
Prophets, Poets and Pioneers
Showcasing the legends and groundbreaking men and women who built the narrative of
bookselling.
The Divines, Event Stylists and Coordinators
Showing the history of classic event happenings, storytimes, and amazing author guest
launches and appearances. A look at the store spirit and community. Staff, managers, etc.
The Cherished, the Changed, the Survivors
Showcasing the way many of stores adopted new owners, systems, and locations to survive.
A look at for instance, Diesel Books, into East Bay Booksellers. A Different Light Bookstore,
into Fabulousa Books, etc. Also this will be a place to tell the story of stores that closed after the pandemic.
